Black Music is...

... A huge part of culture. You could even call it the basis of culture. It's determines the cool, how we act and even influences our speech.

In testing times like this, it makes me think about the classic music that has got us through difficult periods. Within these difficult times black music artists have always managed to translate how they're feeling through art and have managed to deliver messages that we in 2020 can still relate too. Through the most testing times some of the most iconic songs have been made, they're certain songs that translate so well that they're used in Black Live Matters marches like Kendrick Lamar - Alright in the Ferguson protests in 2016. With everything that's going on, I've put together a playlist of songs by artists that have talked about the black struggle and how they deal with racial issues. This is my #BlackLivesMatter playlist. It features artists like Nina Simone, Gill Scott-Haren, 2Pac, Nas, Kendrick Lamar, Kanye West, Beyonce, India.Aire, Solange, J Cole, Jay Z, Run The Jewels, Kojey Radical and Kano just to name a few.

Music is a life saver, if you can't express how you feel about the current situation we're in... have a listen and I hope the music helps and heals.
