The Part Timers’ Weekly Music Roundup 25/10/22

Welcome to The Part Timers’ selection of the best music from the previous week.

Projects

Loyle Carner - Hugo

AOTY contender?

Last Friday saw Loyle Carner drop his 3rd studio album and finalises an expectational trilogy of releases. Hugo tackles the topic of self-identity and re-building a relationship with his absentee father; an on-going topic in his music. The album displays his artistic growth and poetic prowess, making this easily a top 10 project of the year.

Jeezy – SnoFall (hosted by DJ Drama)

Reunited!

All the way back in 2005, upcoming Atlanta rapper, Young Jeezy and DJ/record executive, DJ Drama, connected to produce one of the most revered mixtapes in the Trap scene, Trap or Die.

17 years later, the pair have linked again to produce this new mixtape, SnoFall, and even with the great success of both men, they have managed to recapture that energy from 2005. A mature, yet greazy project that serves as Jeezy’s best sounding music in a while.

Youngs Teflon – All Eyes on me Against the World (Side B)

Elite penmanship.

Youngs Teflon should be in your top 10 lyricists in the UK, if not top 5 and this recent project provides further proof. Tef is easily one of the more versatile rappers in the scene and both sides of All Eyes on me against the world, show the rapper is at his best.

Suspect OTB – TrillVille

Energy.

Honestly, Suspect is in his own lane entirely. It is difficult to think of an artist that sounds anything like Suspect and this project is a great example of his unique brand of UK rap. This unique energy plus some great production choices, as usual, help to make a very entertaining project.

Sonder – Too Late to Die Young

The Smoothest.

Producers Atu and Dpat, team up with Brent Faiyaz yet again to produce a solid collection of smooth vibes. Not their best, but hopefully a sign that a full project could be arriving soon.
